Seed Legend soapberry body wash

Why do we use coconut oil?

For centuries, coconuts have been an important fruit in tropical regions: they’re a source of drinkable water and food, their fibers are used for textiles, and they can even be used as a flotation device! But one of the most important products that comes from coconuts is coconut oil-- which you may know as a great oil to cook with, but did you also know that coconut oil has amazing benefits for your skin and hair too?

Coconut oil helps lock moisture in skin, and smooths and protects rough patches and cracks in the skin. The natural compounds in coconut oil have antibacterial and antifungal properties, which can help with various skin issues such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema. Coconut oil also helps reduce inflammation and can even help wounds heal faster! It even works as a natural sunscreen-- although with only an SPF of 4-5, you should absolutely still use normal sunscreen.

Coconut oil can also be applied to hair and used in hair products. The antibacterial and antiviral properties help soothe and get rid of dandruff and scalp itchiness. The oil also acts as a conditioner-- leaving hair smoother and softer.

With all of these amazing benefits, it’s no wonder that people have been using coconut oil as a beauty product for centuries-- this is why we use it in so many of our products! With minimal ingredients (6 or less!), we carefully select what goes into each product and we frequently use coconut oil for its inherent benefits!
